The Pederson-Krag Center's Chemical Dependency outpatient programs
have well over 20 years of treatment experience and serve residents
of Suffolk County. The programs are licensed by the New York State
Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services, and provide treatment
to individuals and significant others. We have locations in Huntington,
Smithtown and Wyandanch, and a satellite office at the Madonna Heights
Residential Adolescent Treatment Program in Dix Hills.
We view chemical dependency as a progressive and pervasive disease
that can affect every aspect of a person's life. It can interfere
with work, family stability and social relationships and impair
physical and emotional health. Legal and emotional problems are
common. If untreated, chemical dependency can lead to devastating
consequences not only for the chemically dependent person but for
the significant others in his or her life.
Treatment is individualized and each applicant receives a comprehensive
assessment of his/her specific needs, detailing the various problems
to be addressed. Utilizing a team approach, our experienced and
multidisciplinary staff provides the following services and treatment
groups:
- Alcohol and Drug Education
- Women's Intensive Day Treatment (Huntington only)
- Probation Alcohol Treatment (Wyandanch only)
- Intensive Evening Outpatient Treatment (Huntington only)
- Phase Oriented Treatment
- Adolescent
- Dual Recovery
- Family Treatment
- Relapse Prevention
- Driving While Intoxicated
- Anger Management in Recovery
- Recovery and Domestic Violence
- After-Care
- Psychiatric Evaluation and Medication Management
We consider attendance and active participation in 12-step self-help
groups an integral part of treatment planning and an important component
for successful treatment.
