Pederson-Krag's Partial Hospitalization Program is a short
term, intensive treatment program where individuals experiencing
an acute episode of a psychiatric illness can receive medically
supervised out-patient treatment. It serves as an alternative
to in-patient treatment and allows patients who are not a
danger to themselves or others to maintain their everyday
life without the disruption often associated with a hospital
stay. Additionally, it can reduce the length of psychiatric
hospitalization and serve as a step-down from an in-patient
unit.
The Partial Hospitalization Program is staffed by a multi-disciplinary
team and offers a wide range of services in a safe, structured
environment, including:
- Assessment and Treatment Planning
- Health Screening and Referral
- Psycho-Education Groups
- Verbal Therapy
- Case Management
- Clinical Support Services
- Family Counseling and Education
- Psychiatric Rehab Readiness Determination and Referral
- Alcoholism/Substance-Abuse Counseling
- Discharge Planning
Most patients attend 5 days a week, 6 hours per day. Staff
is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days per week for emergency situations.
Length of stay is determined by acuity of person's symptoms
and need for this level of care, but can be no more than 6
weeks.
The Partial Hospitalization Program is licensed by the New
York State Office of Mental Health. Participants must be at
least 18 years of age. Medicaid, Medicare and third party
insurance are accepted. Services and fees are based on sliding
scale for those persons without insurance. This center is
committed to providing quality treatment regardless of one's
ability to pay.
